Recipe | Cinnamon Buns

Ingredients
- 175g of warm milk
- 1 sachet of instant yeast
- 50g of sugar
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 60g of melted unsalted butter + 60g of room temperature butter
- 360g of bread flour
- A pinch of salt
- Matcha or Cacao powder (optional)
- 1 cup of brown sugar
- Cinnamon powder
Instructions
- Microwave milk for 40 - 60 seconds in a big bowl
- Add yeast and sugar when the milk is still warm and mix well
- Add egg and mix well
- Microwave butter in a covered bowl for 30 seconds and then 10 seconds
- Mix the butter in its bowl until well melted, then add it to the big bowl and mix well
- Add flour slowly until it forms a dough. Use the hand mixer to knead the dough
- Spread oil in the big bowl and leave the dough to rest until doubled in size
- Mix brown sugar and cinnamon powder together
- Knead the dough and divide it into 2-3 portions
- Take 1 portion at a time and flatten it out with a roller
- Spread the butter thinly and sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture on top
- Roll and cut into 4-5 pieces
- Repeat until done, and let the pastry rest until doubled in size
- Bake for about 15 minutes at 175°C with the fan on
*I skip the icing on top as the buns are already sweet as they are.
